James Likoudis – estranged Catholic who likes irrational and unbiblical explanations

When I read his writings I was deeply disturbed. I haven’t seen someone twisting God’s word so much since I read Catholic Cathecism.

His works are based on traditions of man. Man he indeed follows and that man is Pope of Rome, not Jesus Christ from Nazareth. However his writings are hostile toward Protestantism as a whole, not just Adventists particulary, check out what he wrote ( http://credo.stormloader.com/Reviews/diesdomi.htm ):

“The point I make to you is that the Apostolic Tradition concerning Sunday worship by Christians and practiced from the earliest days of the Church has once again been set forth by the present Bishop of Rome who exercises the Petrine ministry in our time. That Apostolic Tradition (remember St. Paul saying to ‘ hold fast to the traditions we have been taught ‘) has been preserved in the Catholic Church — and to their credit most Protestants continue to adhere to it, despite their illogical rejection of Apostolic Tradition.

What he tried to say was a mixture of truths and lies (that is the most toxic combination). First he explains that Sunday worship is based on “Apostolic Tradition” (Not Bible alone), and goes on to saying that some Protestans observe Sunday “despite their illogical rejection of Apostolic Tradition”.

Let’s examine his words carefully

First he says that Sunday worship is based on “Apostolic Tradition”. However I have a huge problem with that. Why? because Catholic Church has nothing to do with Apostolic Church, nor Catholic Tradition has anything to do with what Peter and Paul wrote or said.

Second – Apostolic Church that Paul, Peter, John and Matthew were members knew nothing about Sunday as a day of rest. Why? Many reasons, First of all they were all Jews, and to them no other day of rest was known except Sabbath (Saturday). Second, not less important is that Jesus never spoke about switching the day of rest from Saturday to Sunday. Also, important to mention is that “Sunday worship” came to Christianity from paganism, and not from Peter’s and Paul’s words or writings.

Third Bishop of Rome DOES NOT exercises the Petrine ministry in our time

ForthThe fact that Protestants reject most of Catholic Tradition (which Catholic Church likes to call “Apostolic”, although it’s not) is perfectly logic, not illogic as he tries to explain.

I guess this has been enough for today:))

However James Likoudis has authored several books dealing with sex education, the Eastern Orthodox church and liturgical issues. I guess he should have stopped right there, but as you know he went further to prove unprovable, that Roman Church has authority to change Commandments of God with traditions of man, purgatory and many other uniquely Catholic inventions. Sad truth is that once he will meet with the Lord he will realise that his soul is not immortial, despite what Pope said! I guess he will qoute Catechism of Catholic Church then, and try to explain to Jesus that Catholic tradition is part of God’s word.

Reality for him on Judgement Day will be harsh, masses and prayers for him after his death were in vain, and no Church will be able to redeem his soul.

If you’re thinking like mr. Likoudis think twice while you’re still alive, after death might be too late!

If you like to hear more trash talk from mr. Likoudis and you’re Seventh-day Adventist in the same time, read his whole letter made specially for us! ( http://www.ewtn.com/library/ANSWERS/LETADVEN.htm )

Here are some of his claims:)

it is indeed on the authority of the Catholic Church that Sunday was substituted for the Sabbath for the worship of the Blessed Trinity. One can try to argue that this was wrong on the basis of certain scriptural allegations, but it is useless to try and use Scripture against the Church whose Scriptures they are.” (my comment – hahaha)

this one sounds more serious:

“what else could that Church be but infallible”

“The Pope comes with the Church since he is the visible head of the Church on earth.”

It is true that the Church cannot change the moral law of God as found in the Commandments, but as the infallible teachers of the new Christian Church (the “teach-ye-all-nations” Church soon to be termed the Catholic Church by the year A.D. 107), they could and did change the time, the motive, and details of the Sunday observance.”

When Ellen WHite said that Catholicism will never change, she was indeed correct. Catholicism didn’t change, nor our view of it should.

(PS: I have nothing about ordinary Roman Catholics, I was Roman Catholic myself)
